Unfortunately, some hoopers have made the news for the wrong reasons, facing criminal charges or jail time. Which NBA players went to prison?
NBA has had its share of bad boys since its founding. Some league stars have been arrested and charged. Some hoopers have been arrested for assault and drug abuse. The following basketball players went to jail and why.

Oliver Miller
- Former NBA star Oliver J. Miller (The Big O) played for the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, and Sacramento Kings.
- Miller committed crimes after retiring from the NBA. He was involved in a “pistol whipping” incident at a barbecue in April 2011.
Ruben Patterson
- Ruben Patterson played small forward and shooting guard for several NBA teams.
- The Lakers, Supersonic, Blazers, Nuggets, Bucks, and Clippers were his teams.
- His first arrest was for misdemeanour assault in February 2001. Patterson was jailed for 15 years.

Arthur Long
- Arthur Donnell One of the best NBA players, Long, went to prison for drugs.
- His teams were Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings.
- He was convicted of gun and drug offences in 2015. Long got seven years in prison.
Darrell Allums
- NBA legend Darrell Wilbert Allums, Jr. played for the Dallas Mavericks in 1980-81.
- Unfortunately, he only played one season in the national league.
- Allums received a nine-year sentence in 1989 for robbing Domino’s Pizza deliverymen 14 times.
