Babul Supriyo Age, Wife, Children, Family, & More : He was born into a Bengali family with deep musical traditions, and grew up in Uttarapara, a small town on the banks of the Hooghly river. His grandpa, Bengali composer and singer Banikantha NC Baral, had a great influence on him. His grandfather taught him the foundations of music.
He was named the 1983 All India Don Bosco Music Champion and the 1985 Most Enriching Talent while attending Don Bosco Liluah School.
He took part in and won a number of interschool and intercollegiate music competitions. Additionally, he had been on All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Political Journey • His political journey started in March 2014 after he met Baba Ramdev.
• He became a contender in the Lok Sabha Election Polls in the same year from
Asansol (a small town of West Bengal) on a BJP ticket and won after defeating ‘Dola Sen’ of TMC (Trinamool Congress).
• In 2014, he was inducted into the Modi cabinet as the Union Minister of State in the Ministries of Urban Development and Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.
• He became the 3rd BJP minister from the eastern state after Satyabrata Mukherjee and Tapan Sikdar.
• In 2016, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and
Public Enterprises.
• In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, he won from the Asansol Constituency against TMC’s Moon Moon Sen by a margin of 72,956 votes.
• On 30 May 2019, he took the oath as the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
• On 7 July 2021, he resigned from Narendra Modi’s Council of Ministers ahead of the Cabinet reshuffle.
• On 31 July 2021, through a Facebook post, he announced his decision to quit politics. He also annoynced that he would quit his Lok Sabha membership.  
• On 18 September 2021, he joined the All India Trinamool Congress in presence of party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien.
• On 3 August 2022, he became a cabinet minister in the West Bengal government. He was later appointed as the Cabinet Minister of the Department of Information Technology & Electronics and the Department of Tourism.
• On 11 September 2023, Babul Supriyo became the Cabinet Minister of the Department of Information Technology & Electronics and the Department of Non-conventional and Renewable Energy Sources of West Bengal. Indranil Sen, however, was appointed as the Minister of the Department of Tourism after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shuffled the cabinet.

Controversies • In 2017, a case was filed against Supriyo under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (use of obscene words or gestures against a woman) by Trinamool Congress MLA ‘Mahua Moitra’ for using the word ‘drunk’ for her in a debate on a TV channel.
• In February 2018, he again became the part of a controversy after he called for a temporary ban on Pakistani artists in the Bollywood industry.
• In March 2018, he again came into the eyes of media during his visit to a relief camp in Kalyanpur (Asansol; one of the areas hit by communal violence). The BJP minister lost his temper after hearing slogans against him and threatned people to rip their skin off.

In 1991, following his graduation from college, he secured employment with Standard Chartered Bank. After a brief stint of employment at the bank, he moved to Mumbai in 1992 to pursue a career in Bollywood.His first break came from Kalyanji (music director and composer), who picked him to play in live international performances when he arrived in Mumbai. He was born Babul Supriyo Baral and changed his name to Babul Supriyo after he started working in show business.
