Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon espresso powder
  • ½ cup canola oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 eggs, large
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • Chocolate Buttercream Frosting Recipe

Instructions

  • Ready the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Take two round cake pans measuring 6 inches in diameter and line them with parchment paper. Put aside for later.
  • Flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, chocolate powder, sea salt, and espresso powder should be mixed together in a medium basin. Make room for
  • Canola oil, eggs, sour cream, milk, and vanilla extract should be mixed together in a large bowl using a whisk until the mixture is completely smooth.
  • To the wet components, add the dry ingredients, and stir until everything is incorporated.
  • Mini chocolate chips should be added and stirred until they are distributed evenly.
  • Spread the batter out evenly between the two cake pans that have been prepared.
  • When a toothpick is inserted into the centre of the cakes, it should come out clean or with a few crumbs. Bake the cakes in an oven that has been warmed for thirty to thirty-five minutes.
  • Once cool, lift cakes out of the pans and remove parchment paper. Let cool completely on the wire cooling rack.
