‘Willie Nelson & Family’ explores the ups and downs of the musician’s life, including his past marriages and financial woes.

Willie Nelson & Family revisits his personal struggles. He tells his life in the new docuseries with his family, including adulterous affairs and alcoholism. Read on for Willie’s biggest doc revelations.Violence in MarriageWillie mentioned his first wife Martha Matthews in the Paramount+ documentary. They married when he was 19 and she 16.

Willie noted that their relationship went from madly in love to tumultuous and violent.“We had fun together, but we fought, and we both drank a lot those days,” he said. She tossed a fork across the table one morning during an argument, and it stuck in my side. Sounds like a tuning fork.

Shirley Collie was Willie’s second wife after his divorce. The “Hello Walls” singer had an affair with Connie Koepke, soon to become his third wife. The hospital handed Shirley and Willie the bill from Paula’s birth, revealing that Connie was pregnant with their daughter Paula Carlene during their marriage.

“Shirley wanted to know who in the hell was Connie Nelson,” Willie said. “The truth is Connie was my girlfriend for years before getting pregnant.”

Lana, Willie’s daughter, said Shirley “had no idea there was a Connie” and “had no idea there was a baby until she got the hospital bill.” She learned about Connie that way, Lana said. I learned about Connie that way.”

Troubles with bankruptcyWillie owed $32 million to the IRS in the 1990s. The authorities seized his property and closed his studio. The financial problems began in the 1970s when Willie’s old business manager, Neil Reshen, didn’t pay taxes

.In the 1980s, the singer-songwriter owed many million dollars, but an accountant advised him to write a $200,000 check to pay it off. Willie rejected bankruptcy advice.

“I never intended and never will do a bankruptcy where the people I owe get screwed out of their money,” Willie said. It’s crucial to think positively. Knowing that negative thoughts poison your system and will kill you if you keep doing them is arguably more significant.

AlcoholismWillie’s frequent drinking became a major issue in the 1960s while he was married to Martha, especially after they had children Lana, Susie, and Billy.

“She and I were fighting worse than ever, and I started drinking more,” Willie said in the docuseries. “I would drink every night and go home with a different person. My self-destruction was slow. I didn’t care.”After drinking more, Willie admitted to suicidal thoughts.

«Back in my drinking days, I tried suicide a couple of times». “When I was depressed in winter, I lay in the street hoping a car would run over me. No luck. I had to get up and keep trying to make a living.”
