5 FRUITS that are Bad for DOGS: As much as we all love our dogs, there are times when we give them the wrong attention and hurt them. We will tell you which fruits and vegetables you should not give your dog in this guide. This will keep your dog safe and keep you from having to pay a lot of money for vet bills.

5 FRUITS that are Bad for DOGS

1. Raisins and grapes

  • Grapes and raisins are at the top of our list. We all have this little fruit around the house, and it might seem like a safe sweet treat.
  • But if a dog of any size eats just a few, they could quickly and permanently damage their kidneys and fail.
  • There is no time to waste if you think your dog has eaten some. Call the vet right away.

2. Avocados

  • Few people agree on this, but in general, you shouldn’t give your dog (or many other animals or birds) any part of an avocado.
  • The most dangerous parts are the stone and the skin. Some people feed their dogs small amounts of the flesh mixed in with their food, but I would stay away from it all together just to be safe.
  • There is a poison called Persin in avocados that is not harmful to humans but can make your pet sick, have trouble breathing, and have diarrhea.

3. Pips, seeds and stones

  • Even though it might be tempting to throw your dog an apple core or something similar, the pits, seeds, and stones of many fruits contain cyanide, which can be very bad for your dog or even kill it.
  • Fruits like apples, cherries, plums, peaches, and more should be avoided.

4. Nuts

  • Dogs can’t digest nuts the same way people do, and some kinds, like macadamia nuts, are poisonous to them.
  • Even the ones that aren’t poisonous are hard for pets to digest and can cause other health problems. To avoid getting nuts, always keep them out of reach.
  • Pecan nuts, macadamia nuts, and walnuts are the worst. Don’t forget that nut butters are bad for your dog because they have a lot of fat and salt.

5. Nutmeg

  • This isn’t something that you should have a lot of lying around your house, but it is something to be aware of! Nutmeg has myristicin in it.
  • The small amounts found in cakes might not be harmful, but dogs can get tremors, seizures, and even die from eating too much of it.
